Sunday, June 28th, 10:30am-12 pm, Rattleroot Farm at 89 Mirick Rd, Princeton, MA
Many of us are familiar with Elderberry, which is often many peoples’ gateway plant into herbalism, but what about the flowers?
Elderflowers are sweet, gentle, yet powerful plant friends with vast history, who offer a number of gifts to us humans on levels both physical and emotional. An infused honey of the flower has a number of different & delicious uses: can be eaten by the spoonful, added to a cup of hot water for tea, made into a syrup, added to baking recipes, and more!
Elder is an ancient plant, found in numerous places in the world, and one that a great many of our ancestors revered.
In Germany, it is said that the Elder tree is inhabited by the great grandmother spirit, Frau Holle, who holds keys to ancient wisdom, strength, and bravery for peering into the mysteries.
Come spend a summer morning, learning plant ID, folklore/history, health benefits, how to harvest, & make your own Elderflower Honey to take home. We will meet at the beautiful Rattleroot Farm which rests at the foothills of Wachusett Mountain.
Medicine-making materials will be included. Please bring your own clippers (if desired; elderflower can be picked by hand as well) and small paper bag or basket for harvesting. Depending on the weather, it may be hot and sunny, so you may want to bring a hat, sunscreen, and bug repellent (please apply bug repellent before entering the workshop). If you’d like, you may also want to bring a small blanket to sit on the ground, as well as a notebook and pen.
