Hi! I’m Renee, herbalist, creator & intuitive of Leaf Song Herbs. My practice of herbalism is rooted in bioregional plants, ancestral folk traditions, re-connecting with the Earth in our body & spirit.

I’ve been studying & practicing herbalism for over 10 years, though I am a life-long learner! I handcraft an array of remedies made in small batches, often coinciding with the Earth’s seasons & cycles. They are made with plants that are abundant in my bioregion or organically and/or locally grown. Each harvest and medicine-making experience is treated with care and reverence. I also offer herbal consultations to address both acute & long-standing health concerns, and community education centered around easily accessible, local plants & simple remedies.

In my practice, I center:
- herbal education & how herbs interact with our bodies on numerous levels
- simple, safe & accessible remedies & practices that are easily adaptable
- connecting & building relationships with the land through our senses & our spirit

- ancestral re-connection for guidance & healing
- integrative healthcare (i.e. I support the use of vaccinations, medical intervention, pharmaceuticals, reproductive care, and gender affirming care.)
- decolonizing our practices & honoring the many BIPOC lineages that paved the way for what we call “Western” herbalism

My love for the wild plants & nature began when I was a child, growing up with the forest surrounding my family's little house on Nipmuc territory (otherwise known as Sutton, MA/Worcester county). I found my first plant allies in the protective, nurturing White Pine & Birch trees, moss, the forsythia that bloomed every early spring, and the juicy, sweet blackberries my dad and I would pick in the summer.

After a number of detours and the tumultuous years of my teens and 20’s, I found my way back to the plants, first through incense-making, magic and ritual. Soon after, I dove headfirst down the path of herbal medicine where I was re-introduced to the wild plants growing right near me all along. I learned how simple, rewarding and healing it is to create my own medicine via tinctures, flower essences, teas, oils, vinegars, and I experienced a homecoming in re-connecting with the spirit of the living earth.

There is medicine in the active constituents of the plants and also in our relationship to them as living beings. There is a simple wisdom linking us to plants that spans millennia; it lives within and is available to us all. By re-membering how to connect to the earth and plants from a heart-centered space of reverence and reciprocity, we re-connect to ourselves and to the old ways of our ancestors.

I also have a background in astrology (20 years), music, and a BA in English (poetry concentration) & Women's Studies. I live in a townhouse built in 1888 in Worcester MA with my Aquarian husband, our spunky & sparkly 7 year old, and our black-mohagany-colored cat named Emmett.
